Last year, a bright spot was that someone finally did work things out to reopen the park after being shut for four years. A couple different groups attempted to purchase the property and/or lease it to reopen it, but all fell through. When a disagreement between the Kentucky Fair Board and Six Flags caused the park chain to withdraw from this amusement park about four years ago, this park remained silent. I would love to go back in a few years and see how they are doing, they're off to a great start!

Luckily, our hotel (La Quinta Louisville Airport) was just down the road and had a free shuttle there. The only drawback is the fact that the parking lot is not owned by Kentucky Kingdom - it is shared with the convention center and you do not have in/out privileges, you have to pay $8 every time you enter the parking lot.

They were labeled on the map as opening in 20. They were also very upfront about the two coasters that were not open. They make the batter right in front of you, mixing the flour and other ingredients in a huge mixer. The thicker parts were soft and tasted like real cake. Another thing I really liked about the park was the funnel cake. I could spend the whole day in the water park! They have a great variety of slides including a water coaster Deluge which propels the rafts uphill. The water park has a lot of new slides and includes 2 wave pools and 2 lazy rivers. However, they have a brand new steel roller coaster, Lightning Run, which is fast, smooth, intense, and a whole lot of fun! Thunder Run, the park's wooden coaster, has been completely re-tracked and is running great. Since the park sat abandoned for several years, some parts of it are still closed off, and the roller coasters T2 and Twisted Twins are not yet up and running. We went there on a Sunday, a traditionally slow day for amusement parks, and the park was PACKED. The former Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom is re-opened with new management and a bunch of new rides. It was crazy and scary!! You definitely over sold the venue, and you didn't think about people's comfort or safety!! We saw at least 4 emergencies in the crowd, during Pearl Jam, that we had never seen before!! We couldn't even enjoy ourselves at the Pearl Jam, that we waited all day to see, because of the overcrowding issue!! Again, you should be ashamed of yourself!! We won't be back next year, so you just lost several great customers as a result of being money hungry!! We have never seen that many people at Bourbon and Beyond before. We couldn't go to the bathroom or get a drink due to the long lines and too many people walking in all directions. That's horrible!!! I will not pay $4.50 for a small can of water!! Third, the venue was extremely overcrowded on Saturday night to the point where we could barely move. It is evident that you don't offer enough water stations or cold water because you want everyone to pay $4.50 for a small can of cold water.

Plus, the water was room temperature when it was extremely hot outside to where people almost passed out at one point waiting to fill up their water bottles. First, the prices of food and drink and parking were outrageous!! Second, there were not enough water stations for vast the amount of people there. My husband and I have been to several Bourbon and Beyond events and each year it gets worse and worse!! This year was the worst we have seen, and you all should be ashamed of yourselves for overcharging and overcrowding the venue on Saturday night.
